About the event
The brilliant turn out in July from our fellow women in the industry created such a welcoming space to chat and meet new people. As a reminder of why we decided to start this series of events, we realised we each knew several female clients and peers in our industry who are doing amazing things outside their day jobs, and we want to build a community around that; to share, encourage and inspire one another.
These get-togethers will be taking place every five/six months to help build a community for the women that work in our industry. Just like our first event, they will be informal, positive, and constructive in nature and will include short talks from a variety of our peers. We want the content to come from our community, not from us. As well as sharing important and interesting stories, we've also started an Atlantic House Book Club where we provide you with a book at each event and hope it forms a basis of discussion at the next get-together.
Next speaker: Issy Galliers-Pratt on behalf of both GAIN and Rathbones
Next Book: Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken
Guest Speaker

We’re thrilled to welcome Issy Galliers-Pratt as our next speaker! Issy will share insights from her work with GAIN, Girls Are Investors, which is a mentoring program dedicated to empowering young women in their professional journeys, particularly pursuing a career in the finance sector. Having begun volunteering for this mentoring charity in 2020, she has guided numerous young women in navigating the start of their careers. Issy is also an Investment Director at Rathbones where she is heavily involved in the Inspire Programme, closely working with female founders and entrepreneurs, often helping them navigate pitch decks and different funding options. In addition to her impactful mentoring, volunteer work and her role at Rathbones, Issy is also a mother of three.

Our next book will be Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken, which was The Economist best book of the year in 2023 and the number one Sunday Times bestseller. This gives us insight into how ultra-processed foods affect our long term health. Chris van Tulleken discusses what makes a food ultra-processed and how this arena has exploded since its inception in the 1800s after the creation of margarine. These days, these foods contain stabilisers, emulsifiers, flavourings and other compounds that are artificially synthetised. The result? Low-cost, hyper-tasty, and widely available convenience foods. Needless to says that there’s a flip side, while these products may be friendly to your wallet, their link to adverse health outcomes is growing stronger. All this comes from numerous studies, sources and scientific backing to strengthen van Tulleken's credibility in this field.
